Aunt Eleanor once called and asked me why I chose Arizona State University and I didn't tell her the truth - that it was because of the Mark Lindsey song 'Arizona' because I thought it would sound stupid to her.
But Eleanor lived up Notch Road in North Adam's and at the base of Notch Rd there was a gingerbread style house that belonged to Martin Melcher and Doris Day.
Their son, Terry Melcher, had planned to make a recording of one of Charles Mansons' songs and reneged, causing Manson to order the Sharon Tate 'Helter Skelter' murders because Melcher had been renting the house where the murders occurred.
He had been renting it from Mark Lindsey.
